Never Hit. Period. 9- Excellent Condition. You can tell the club has been hit, but it shows only very light wear. Club retains its original luster. 8- Good Condition. The club has been played for a season or two, and shows only wear from normal use. On Woods, this means no sky marks in the paint and no excessive face or sole wear—there may be very minor marks in the paint, but they are at most barely visible at address. On Irons, this means no excessive face or sole wear and grooves that are in good condition—there will be no major rock marks, dings, or any wear that could affect club performance. Overall, a club that has been played with, but well cared for. 7- Fair Condition. The club has been played for a few seasons, and/or has cosmetic issues that come from past use. On Woods, this means a club with a sky mark or easily noticeable chips or scratches in the paint. Excessive face or sole wear on a Wood will also qualify it for this condition rating. Woods of this rating will not have any problems that could affect club performance—no dents in the metal or caved faces. On Irons, this means clubs with a few seasons worth of face or sole wear, and/or clubs with medium-sized dings or nicks in the metal anywhere on the club, such as the leading edge of the sole—there will still be no major rock marks or dings, or any marks that will affect club performance. Grooves will still be in pretty good to good condition, but may show wear from a few seasons of use. 6- Poor Condition. Club will have wear that could negatively affect performance—dents in the metal, large rock marks, bad grooves, etc. Also could be a club with large spots of paint loss or wear, but only if the wear is excessive.
