Ping 1-A Putter Golf Club Limited Edition Gold Plated
THE PING 1-A. The putter heard ’round the worldKarsten Solheim didn’t set out to revolutionize the golf equipment industry. He simply wanted to lower his own scores. It started in 1959 when he designed his own putter. Working nights in his Redwood City, California garage, he created a putter with the majority of the weight on the heel and toe. An engineer by trade, he theorized such a design would minimize the twisting of the putter at impact. his heel-toe balance theory, as he called it, proved remarkable in its effectiveness as he saw amazing results on the putting green. Beyond that, the odd-looking putter produced a “pinging” sound upon impact. As he stroked putt after with his newest invention, it sang out — Pinggg. He had a name for his putter and it wasn’t long before he made a name for himself. Today, 50 years later, Karsten’s ingenuity and influence continue to improve the scores — and enjoyment — of millions of golfers around the world.
